Blah blah blah…
News for January 2006
Blah…
Carajo!
For the next month I think I’m going to have to live off of Pasta! The cost of living is no joke. Good lord! If I was living at home I would probrably be out eating everyday no doubt about that… but even with the money that I save and the budget that I am on, dining out is a bit too much for me right now… y eso… que por ahi viene el cumple año de la novia mas el dia de los enamorados… I’m in trouble… Wait!! not to worry… if you don’t live in Dominican Republic, here in the US we have something thats called Income Tax!!! hehe… niceeee un chequesito que no se esperaba… I can’t go wrong in the month of February…
Red Bull is my best friend right now… My sleeping pattern is all messed up because I work from 6pm to 6am one day, have the next day off, and back to work @ 6am to 6 pm… I have no idea why or how I manage. Starting Monday I’ll be working 8-4pm for the next month so thats something to look forward to… Oh… I was blown away by one of my co-workers… He is a mechanical engineer with over 15 years of expirience… All I have to say is that I am extremely happy with the career decisions I have made to get to where I am. I don’t know how people don’t move up knowing about the job opportunities out there.
With that being said… I am about 4 months ahead of myself… hehe… The bid I put in was only good enough for 3 interviews… I finally got word that because other employees would probrably feel recentment for placing a new employee at the level of management open before someone with more seniority who applied for the same position, I had to be turned down… damn… There were two circumstances that would have guaranteed the job… They were… length of employment of 6 months or simply an outside hire applying for the position. But that would have never happened because the company always offers the jobs to its employees first… pero nah… I congratulated the old guy on the job and offered my help wherever he needed it. However…. I was offered another job… lol… For the next month I’ll be training employees on PLC’s and basic electric circuits. hehe… this was funny because I didn’t expect to get anything out of applying for the job but I have…
Moving right along my list of crap that I want to write about… The house. My little sister apparently thinks that heating oil is as cheap as water… Sure enough I check up on the house and since no one is sleeping there I set the thermostat @ 60 just to keep the boiler running… Pero no… this chic wants to heat the house up to 90 in less then 5 minutes so she raises the thermostat to 95, runs the water in the boiler out and forgets to bring the thermostat back down when the house temperature reaches a comfortable 72. I don’t get it…
And thats how the cookie crumbles… Next up will be living on my well planned budget and the things you learn how to cook when you first move out… hehe… Huevos con cachu, pasta en aseite con vegetales, mucho mangu, y en vez en cuando un bistek…
I’ve been meaning to write…
About nothing… and everything…
Having my own place that I call home is… home… I honestly don’t find it much different then living at home other then the privacy, quietness, freedom, and atmosphere that I had once I stepped into my bedroom. I decided to paint the apt the same colors as my bedroom… If colors put us in the mood or give us the calm or the off the wall vibe that we yern for, I have definately found the right color combination with grey and white. I don’t have too much furniture tho… a bed, a desk and three chairs to fill the living room, bed room, and kitchen for the time being… good news however… I think a TV is on the way. Ahhh yess… I can’t forget to mention my free wireless!!! hehe
Work has been good to me… I bid on another position within the company already… hehe… I’m not supposed to bid on it until I have 6 months working for the company but I found myself more then qualified for the position… vamos a ver que pasa con eso…
Bueno, other then that… Valentines Day is also on the way and I will be patiently waiting for the love of my life in order to share that day with her… wherever that is… As embarassing as it may seem, I haven’t talked to my parents since I last spoke with them regarding my older sister. A conversation that lasted no more then 10 minutes and a conversation that led to her departure until further notice to Dominican Republic. I’m sure their happy to have her around… sarcastically speaking… A cousin of mine that lived in Bonao was hit by a German Tourist killing him instantly. The man was arrested and released the following day. Sad but true.
Finally I think I am just about ready to commit to yet another huge responsibility… I’ve been contemplating what to do and I always told myself that I would never do so… but… never say never… right… I’m a bit reluctant to actually commit but everything is a sacrifice and since my basic instincts tell me that it’s the right thing to do, I’m going to stick with it… hopefully the opportunity is still there and it’s not too late…
Bitter Sweet
I’m moving out and moving on but the feeling is bitter sweet. Over the last few weeks I’ve been patiently waiting for this moment to come along and now it feels like a ton of bricks. The thought of my new list of responsibilities are overwhelming but I must say that I’m fortunate enough to be in the position that I am in… whatever position that may be…
I didn’t realize I could fill a bedroom apt with sooo much crap. Books, papers, toys, furniture… None the less it should be interesting carrying all my stuff up 4 flights of stairs. Tomorrow I’ll be going food shopping as well as curtain shopping… vamos a ver como me va…
Blogging and Blogs Dominicanos have been on the back burner for the last few weeks but within the next few days I’ll return to posting on my blog as well as the site… ciao!
