The Odie Vibrator
No te pongas de mojiganga
Looking back it was cool to have a father like that but in exchange for those memories I continue that same outlook towards those that are close to me. Not that I don’t have the patience he never had but perhaps it is the up bringing that has lead me to be that way. I’ll say those exact words every now and then and crack up since I sound just like my father. They are cynical expressions that are a part of me.
It was funny to me after he said anything like that anyway. That Dominican personality in which he expressed himself in – the stereotypical Dominican I have come to be. Someone at work today mentioned that my humor was a sarcastic humor that I only share with those close to me. Which is mighty true.
Growing up in any type of culture other then that classic American household within the United States is still the same as being raised in your own country. The only difference is the result that you are now reading. The bi-lingual reading writing and speaking personality.
Maybe I’m wrong. Who knows… we are all raised with certain expectations from our parents and obviously they always want the best for us. To see that we have become successful to their standards makes them very happy and they feel a sense of satisfaction knowing that we are well off. I guess thats goes with all parents…
Furthermore, don’t bother someone that doesn’t show any interest in you… it can be related to any type of relationship you encounter. I refuse to pursue contact with someone who doesn’t return phone calls, doesn’t call, doesn’t visit, doesn’t look for me, doesn’t return emails, doesn’t show any appreciation for my time or effort… and this is the main reason for writing this post. Why bother people if they don’t return your emails or even bother to take 1 minute of thier day to call and say hello. It doesn’t make much sense to me… are we all that busy? Don’t complain about me not calling when you don’t bother to say hello yourself…
Here are two more thoughts…
When opportunity knocks, take it…
If you come across a fork in the road, take it…
I don’t know if this is the American way of doing things but I can say that I live in a dog eat dog – real world environment. Everyone is looking to benefit from someone else’s sweat and little recognition is given to those that bust their ass in doing what they do… but… I could be wrong!
Ya mis pensamientos me están cansando… lo dejo ahí por ahora…
