I’m just about done with this
Thanks Alex for the $20 bucks… It truly helped not to mention you were the only person to send anything. The rest of you, thanks for taking the time and leaving your comments. I know we don’t all make 120k a year and your moral support of wanting to making things happen isn’t always enough.
Honestly speaking, (this is just my personal opinion…) between the time I was in Dominican Republic and the time I’ve been back… which has been about what… 3 weeks? I can’t say I’m impressed with the support that the Dominican Blogosphere has to offer. Particularly those living in Dominican Republic.
I think that those of us living outside of the country have contributed more in many other ways and have come to share and express true love to a culture that we desire to be in more so then those that are already there. That’s just my personal opinion and I hope no one gets offended as many people may.
On my arrival back home I was faced with the most oddest request with from one person that helped me organize the visits. I mean, not only did I take time off from work, make dozens of phone calls from my company cell phone, travel from Jarabacoa to St. Domingo the three days I was there, treat those that I was with, donate the things I donated… but the person had the audacity to ask for a favor in return… As compensation for organizing our visits, that they were depending on $50-$100 towards a new piece of equipment they needed for personal use. WTF!?
I’m not being fesicious when i say that NY Dominican Bloggers have contributed more then those living in the country, but I think we have.
Como que le quieren sacar aprovecho a algo que es tan sencillo y tan “que se yo”… sin mente diria yo… talking about having a blog radio show that is broadcasted nationally, using blogs as a spin off to new television shows, it’s hilarious. I mean how much about blogs can you really talk about and how much about blogs do you really know!? what is there to know?! All you can do is invite publicists and journalists that already have blogs onto a show and ask the same questions over and over… No originality whats so ever.
Peridismo ciudadano ok… ta bien… eh… eso de estar dando “Talleres”… pero ven aca… and you get paid for it!? hahaha… I don’t know. Showing someone how to turn a computer on is bad enough but they need a computer before they know how to surf the web, never the less post a picture on a blog.
And what ever happen to an interview they supposedly recorded? I certainly didn’t recieve any email regarding its broadcast… not like I was talkative… but it’s the principle… personally I didn’t make it much of an interview because it was lame to ask me the same questions to which the answers were quite clear… For example…
How did BlogsDominicanos.com start?
Did you want a 5 second reference to the url blog post or do you want me to start from the begnining?
All I can ask is that you take it with a grain of salt and forgive me for my honesty.
Soo… with that being said I’m ready for my mouth lashing from so many of you that have never commented on my blog before. Tell me it’s a lie and that I have no idea of what the fuck I’m talking about.
“As compensation for organizing our visits, that they were depending on $50-$100 towards a new piece of equipment they needed for personal use. WTF!?”
HAHAHAHAHAHAAHA….no way?!!…are you for real?

Man, that’s wrong, you should expose that person that is trying to profit from this kindhearted labor. I wouldn’t say that the bloggers outside of the Republic care more, what i would say is that many dominicans on the other side are accostumed to the extorsion, chantage, and they love to take de pendejos the people who travels. They had the image in their head that the dominican that lives in the States is swimming in pools of money.
The solution to blogsdominicanos problem i don’t think that it would be asking for contributions. That’s something we should discuss. Blogsdominicanos it’s such an important tool, that many companies will be willing to pay some advertisement for it. Talk to Gus about that, and also i think that Remo, should help you promote your site, by highlighting how vital and important is blogsdominicanos to the public and the Dominicans bloggers.
Take care
LOL. That’s the same thing all of us have to go through when we visit DR, being a blogger or, not… es una pena!
gracias, cuidense
P.S. …..me llamo Yocasta
“All I can ask is that you take it with a grain of salt and forgive me for my honesty.”
It’s not actually honesty, son. It’s the tone of your arrogance that bothers me, that, and the improper grammar in both languages that made me read your post like three time so I could grasp or have a faint idea of whatever it was you were talking about. (with that being said, I do not know all the details of your trip, I’m just commenting on what you wrote here)
So here is your “mouth lashing”, yes, the one that’s going to tell you, you don’t know what the fuck you’re talking about.
So you decide to go to D.R. because you were invited to a “taller”. The experience wasn’t what you expected because you (as the creator of blogs Dominicanos) didn’t do a proper check on the person who was inviting you, knowing my fellow Dominicans he probably sweet talked you into being “on the radio” and all that shit, he asks you for a “little” donation (I didn’t miss the part where you donated some stuff and your precious time) for some equipment for personal use and then you come back and you go “APE SHIT” on your blog about this poor infeliz. Cool, but come the fuck on, aren’t you a programmer or something, if you can’t afford that, “then tell the poor bastard you don’t have any money”. You don’t have to hang him out to dry like that. If money was what bothered you, then I suggest you learn another language that’s not “Java” and it’s pretty obvious that you need help in writing English and the Spanish language too (I hear the money is in Python or Ruby but what do I know, I’m a different type of designer) (sorry but you wanted a mouth lashing kid).
Edwin your heart is in the right place, I understand you want to help and shit, but this is not how you do it. This is part of globalization, helping undeveloped nations with better technology and that also means helping yourself along the way son (we all have to make that bread). People all over the world are making a difference too by making more than a dozen calls from their company phone, now Instead of D.R. imagine doing what you just did in Bangladesh or in Nigeria but instead of helping with just technology, you’re also doing humanitarian work of all kinds. Did it ever crossed your mind that your interview or your visit probably helped somebody somehow.
Educate yourself so I don’t have to hear that crybaby shit over and over by Dominicans who think they’re the shit. Bring some humility to the table and you won’t hear shit from people like me.
Globalisation still an experiment, we don’t need arrogance to fuck it up so come down…
http://globalpolicy.igc.org/globaliz/define/index.htm
Vas a publicar este mouth lashing verdad?
WTF?!?!?!?!?!?!?! Oh god… o sea, yo no puedo creer que esa vaina haya pasado. De verdad, this is f*kn crazy!
Kaws,
You said…”I do not know all the details of your trip” and that you are only commenting on his reaction. Dude, for future reference…and this might be helpful on your everyday life…when you don’t know what’s happening when someone is running his/her mouth in a livid kind of way, you should keep quiet, research his motives…and then comment. That would save lots of people from non-sense reading and you my friend, would not run on the risk of looking like a jerk.
Just a thought…
Bueno… before someone gets offended in here I need to speak my part… afterall this is my blog…
Me being arrogant… I think that’s an overstatement. Sure enough you don’t have all the details and nor do I need to share them if I choose not to…
Creator of Blogs Dominicanos… I wouldn’t go that far… I give the credit right back to the Dominican bloggers that created the need for a home. 81 of them to be exact.
Que me bufiaron? Your words not mine… I went to St. Domingo with no expectations but with a detailed itinerary of the time and places I was going to visit. All of which were accomplished and executed with style and the cooperation of those that were there with me… Because of it, the trip turned out to be a great success…
The interview. I was asked on the second day of my visit to sit down and speak with a producer. I agreed. No biggie… and I was humbled by the opportunity. The questions on the other hand… Lame to say the least as I stated in my post.
“So you decide to go to D.R. because you were invited to a “taller”. The experience wasn’t what you expected because you (as the creator of blogs Dominicanos) didn’t do a proper check on the person who was inviting you, knowing my fellow Dominicans he probably sweet talked you into being “on the radio” and all that shit, he asks you for a “little” donation (I didn’t miss the part where you donated some stuff and your precious time) for some equipment for personal use and then you come back and you go “APE SHIT” on your blog about this poor infeliz.” – Kaw…
Nice… you really have no idea what your talking about… but I’ll help you and a few others that may be lost get back into the circle of information… Follow the iBlog Weekend posts… Perhaps from there you can gather more information and understand that I was not “invited to a taller”…
As far as the 1 line that everyone seems to be focused on beacuase of the interpretation on Remolcha.net. I never put anyone out to dry nor did I mention any names…
The person who has asked for a favor in return for the arrangements… and I quote…
SUBJECT: AHORA **** NECECITA AYUDA
In caps, as if they wanted me to make sure I noticed the importance of this email…
Look… If I would have personally gained any monetary funds from whatever it is that we did that weekend I would have made sure I gave them something… Furthermore, the individual that I am refering to is not poor, has an education and can work any job they want to work… World Wide as far as I’m concerned.
So I think you can understand that money is the least of their problems which is the reason it bothered me enough to write about it. Explaining that they were depending on 50-100 is irrelevant… their motives for expecting money in liu of their arrangements is my problem.
Finally, if I choose to express my thoughts on this blog whether it be with proper grammer, English or Spanish… You can go ahead and express yourself in the same fashion and I won’t try to correct you…
Gracias a todos por sus comentarios.
Harold, Harold.

END QUOTE.
Do you really think I’m that stupid to run my mouth like that?
Oh I see, you’re defending a friend, I can respect that.
1) tu chequiaste Remolacha.net Hoy?
I’m ready for my mouth lashing from so many of you that have never commented on my blog before.” FUCK YA’ll, really, fuck this clowns.
I did the research, couldn’t find any more info on the story, “BECAUSE THE AUTHOR DID NOT PROVIDE ANY”
A jerk? shit, I’m the jerk? Oh no excuse me, I’ve been branded a jerk because I defended some poor dude who’s hungry for new tech, less fortunate than me or you. FOR MISSING THE FUCKING OBVIOUS” or you just wanted to attack me? This was posted on remolacha so guess what? everybody can fucking go at it, and impale Edwin for his ignorant post in every fucking way, typos and all.
“Harold Martinez, LIFE COACH, blogging advice and in his spare time, video editor”
Harold, you sound like an educated dude. Fucking act like it or don’t swim in waters infected with sharks. You know, so it might be helpful on your everyday life too…
I’m sorry if I offended someone, The Owner of this blog, the readers, I got really fucking pissed with the tone of this post, I corrected the author and a metiche who got in the way, in an era of information you’re open to this kind of criticism especially when some readers and the very same author don’t apply the laws of critical thinking, Reason & logic before they put their fingers on their keyboard, let this fucking be a lesson to clumsy people who forget that they write a transcript that can be read back to them in a moments notice and then they twist it like it’s not 4 inches away if you scroll up.
A jerk indeed…
And I’m out
K.
Never hate on another Dominican.
Thanks for the extra info Edwin, I hope you understand my position
Heck…Thanks for liking my blog bro.
Best.
No sweat, I’ll keep checking it…
Position… I didn’t know you had one… jk… go ahead and fend for yourselves…
I know why I write what I write, even if you don’t like the way it looks or reads and even if I don’t offer details… I think you took it literally and a bit more seriously then intended partner.
Soo… with that being said I’m ready for my mouth lashing from so many of you that have never commented on my blog before. Tell me it’s a lie and that I have no idea of what the fuck I’m talking about.
Criticize but don’t condem…
Moving right on down the list of commentators… believe it or not Kaw, you are not the only one that read the post on Remolacha.net and mosied on into this lovely blog that is soo eloquently written… however thank you for expressing your views…
Harold: Thanks for looking out… and yes way… it is what it is…
Baakanit: Thanks for the comments. I am in total agreement with you. But I know that we all have our own bills and this is truly my bill one way or another. I ask from time to time and every time I ask it’s like I’m trying to twist someone arm off. It is what it is…
I’m not Peter Pan but humble I am with my own people. Thanks for the comment.
Sexyaira: lol… damn… Those are some serious issues… haha…
Ecch… Stumbled upon this pretty late, but what ever. I know how you feel. I’ve been in that situation also, people taking advantage of a situation to profit personally. Unfortunately in my experience also in DR from a least expected individual, on the most casual manner…
It’s cool though. This is your blog, and your space, so you have all the right in the world to express yourself however the fuck you want. And if Remolacha quoted it, hey! what the hell.
About you not being humble.. They dont know what the hell they are talking about. Talk so much about research and quotes and facts, and still dont know. Of all the bloggers and people I hacve met via this, you are the least talkative, but the one most successful at making a point with your actions. An introvert at most, even shy, but still friendly and cool. No adulation, just a personal and factual observation, and many may agree with me on this.
Talk about being misunderstood and misquoted. Shit. It seems you’ve been a magnet for that kind of situation eh??
LOL!!!
Anyway, keep up the good work, and as soon as I can, I will contribute to your project as well.. You know I always try and contribute as much as I can, when I can.
Smooches!
